Start by Choosing the Right BBQ

Never Pat Down the Meat

When you have your meat on the BBQ, be sure not to pat down the meat with your spatula. It’s a common mistake made by many people. The only thing that happens when you do this is that you squeeze out all the juices from the meat. And that’s not what you want to do. It will make the end product more dry and less tasty. So, even if it might be tempting, resist that temptation. Your meat will be much nicer as a result.

Soak Wood Chips Before Cooking

For many people, BBQs are all about that unique smoky flavour that you can’t get anywhere else. If that’s the flavour you want, you should definitely make sure you soak the wood chips before using them. This might sound strange, but it really does work. Soak them in normal water and then through them onto the charcoal. The smoky flavour your meat will get as a result of this will be so much more intense than it would otherwise be.

Use Tongs, Not a Fork to Flip

When you start to BBQ, it’s a good idea to invest in a good pair of tongs. They will make it easy for you to flip your meat without doing anything that will reduce the quality of the flavour. For example, when you use a fork, you can cause the juices to drain out of the meat. That doesn’t happen when you use tongs, and that’s why tongs are better for this kind of task.

Infuse Your Grilled Food with Herbs on the BBQ

Infusing your meat with herbs is not something that has to be done in advance. In fact, you achieve the best taste and the best overall results if you put the herbs onto the food while it’s sitting on your BBQ grill. The same applies to marinade. Doing it while it’s grilling is nearly always the best option. Don’t forget this tip when you start cooking meat on your BBQ.
